Blanche B. Jensen, 90, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE.
Blanche was born near Creighton, NE on November 4, 1922 to Elias Roy Surber and Anna (Heckens) Surber. She grew up near Emerson, NE and graduated from Thurston High School in 1940. She married Dale Henry Jensen on March 22, 1942 in Pender, NE. They were blessed with three sons, Gary Dale, Keith Henry & Douglas LaRay. They farmed near Wakefield, NE, living on the family farm for 53 years. They moved into Wakefield, NE in 1996. Blanche was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and Friendship Extension Club. She and Dale enjoyed dancing, playing cards, family gatherings and coffee time with friends.
Survivors include Keith and Midge Jensen of Hubbard, NE, Doug and Patty Jensen of Wakefield, NE, five grandchildren Kristi Jensen, Kari (Brad) Jones, Patrick Jensen, Jeremy (Bobbi) Jensen, Lindsay (Mike) Bowersox, and nine great-grandchildren Roan & Seth Pryor, Jackson & Ryder Jones, Titus, Micah, Jonas Jensen, Blake & Logan Jensen, two step-grandchildren Billie (Brian) Norton, Travis (Sarah) Birkley and four step-great-grandchildren Mason & Emma Norton, Johnathan & Jacob Birkley. Blanche is also survived by her sisters Ruth Suhr of Pender, NE and Ila Esch of Homer, NE and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale of 67 years and her son Gary. Parents: Roy and Anna Surber. Brothers: Howard Surber, Ervin Surber, Ray Surber, Merrill Surber. Sister: Leona Suhr.
