Click here to view the memorial video. Donald F. Paulsen, 74, of Wakefield, passed away Monday April 28, 2007 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE. Services will be held Thursday May 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE; with Pastor Ross Erickson officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler- Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield, with the family being present from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Wakefield Cemetery with Military rights conducted by the Wakefield American Legion Post #81. Memorial are suggested to the Wakefield American Legion or the Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church. Donald Fred Paulsen was born December 30, 1933 in Thurston, NE the youngest of three children to Fred and Esther (Jepsen) Paulsen. Don was a 1952 graduate of Wakefield High School. Don was married to Barbra Zandstra on October 26, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa. Together they had two children Lori and Kendall. In 1957, Don entered the US Army and was stationed in California. Don was a life-time employee of the Milton G. Waldbaum/ Michael Foods Company. Don did leave the company for 7 years from 1965 to 1972 to further his career in food processing, sales and plant designs. In 1985, Don Paulsen was named Nebraska Poultry man of the year. On September 20, 1991 Don and Patricia L. (Feddersen) Barta were married in Las Vegas, NV. Don’s hobbies included golf, fishing, and hunting. He especially loved trading horses and cars, and an occasional visit to the boat. Survivors include his wife Pat, his daughter Lori and husband Roger Lueth of Wakefield, NE, and son Kendall Paulsen and his wife Rita of Sioux Rapids, IA, six grand children: Austin, Traci, Kelli Lueth, Tara, Abby, and Owen Paulsen, a sister Lu Kay of Wakefield, and sister-in-law and brother-in law Barb and Jim Fuqua of Grand Island, NE., and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dolores Barge and brother-in-laws Roland (Ding) Barge and Milford (Short) Kay, and his first wife Barbara.
