Mabel Wegner, 99, of Bancroft died on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Pender Care Centre in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Mabel will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church near Bancroft; Pastor Jeff Warner will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft, the family will be present from7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church. Mabel was born on February 5, 1909 Southwest of Pender, the daughter of William and Emma (Luhr) Bruns. She was baptized on March 23, 1909 and confirmed on March 25, 1923 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Mabel was married to William Wegner on December 10, 1930. After their marriage, Mabel and William lived on the farm until retiring in 1970 and moving into Bancroft in 1980. William died in 1982. She was a member of the Westside Ladies, the Zion Lutheran Guild and the Extension Club. She moved into the nursing home in 2007. Mabel is survived by her two sons and their wives: Lauren and wife Delores and Lester and Eva June of Bancroft, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Emma Bruns, her husband William, a sister Doris Jones, two brothers: Hank and Ed Bruns and nieces and nephews.
