Ruth A.E. Boeckenhauer, 96, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The family will be present on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Ruth Ardith Evangeline Boeckenhauer was born on December 24, 1916 on a farm southeast of Wakefield, the daughter of Anders Emil and Helen Sophia (Anderson) Anderson. She was baptized on February 23, 1917 and confirmed in June of 1933 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. In 1921, Ruth moved with her family into Wakefield, where she attended and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1935. She worked at the Wakefield Variety Store until she was united in marriage to John Rolland Boeckenhauer on February 18, 1943. They made their home on Ruth’s family farm place their entire married life. To this union three children were born: Lyle, Dean and Mary. John died on March 5, 1979. She moved into Wakefield the following year. Ruth was a member of the Serve All Club, the Care Center Auxiliary, and the Wakefield Senior Center. Being a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ruth served in the W.E.L.C.A., XYZ, sang on the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Ruth is survived by her children Lyle (Linda) Boeckenhauer, Dean (Beth) Boeckenhauer both of Wakefield and a daughter Mary (Mark) Moline of Sioux Falls, SD, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, sisters and brothers: William Anderson, Adolph Anderson, Myrtle Haug and Alice Hansen.
