Marian Lucile Keagle, 86, of Wakefield, NE, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Wakefield Care Center. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE; Pastor Kelly Johnston will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. Burial will be at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Bressler-Munderloh-Smith of Wakefield, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Marian was born July 3, 1927 to Milton and Esther (Borg) Gustafson in rural Wakefield, NE. Marian was baptized and then later confirmed in 1942, at the Evangelical Covenant Church. She graduated from Wakefield High School. On February 22, 1953 she married Joseph Keagle in Wayne County, NE. Together Marian and Joseph farmed for several years in the Wakefield area. Marian also, worked as a secretary at the Wakefield Hospital.
Marian was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield. She was a teacher at Bell School, Park Hill School, and Glendale Country School. Marian was an accomplished bowler, winning the Golden Pin second place award in Minneapolis, MN, and won the Major 9 Big Bowl in Sioux City, Iowa. She was in many women’s organizations including the Mary Martha church group and the SOS Club. She also enjoyed swimming. Marian loved Husker Football, she has had season tickets since 1955.
Marian is survived by her sons; Allen (Marian) Keagle of Wakefield, NE, and Scot (Michelle) Keagle of Wakefield, NE, daughter; Cindy (Scott) Swigart of Victor, NY, and grandchildren; Jeff Keagle, Kyle Keagle, Kim Swigart and Aaron Swigart, and sister; Jean Fischer of Wakefield, NE, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Joseph Keagle, brothers; Jim Gustafson, Morris Gustafson, Marlow Gustafson, Kenneth Gustafson, and sisters; Joyce Bowman, Vivian Muller.
