Click here to view the video tribute.Lillian Essman, 88, of Pender, Nebraska Passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln, NE. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender.Lillian Greenwald Essman was born on January 19, 1920 to Ernest and Antonie (Raabe) Greenwald in Altona, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altona and attended Trinity Parochial School. She graduated from Wisner High School in 1938. She taught in rural schools in Thurston and Wayne counties.She married Earl Essman on June 15th, 1941 at Altona, Ne. They lived on the farm for 26 years. In 1967 they moved to Yakima, WA, where she attended Yakima Valley College and became a licensed practical nurse. After retiring, they traveled, spending winters in Florida and Texas. Earl died on January 11, 2000.Surviving Lillian are two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Ron Koch and Lori and Jim Renaud of Lincoln, Ne, two sons and their wives, Merlin and Kandi of Remora, ID; and Gene and Marga of San Diego, CA, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers: Lawrence Greenwald of Columbus, Ne; Harold Greenwald of Washington; and Robert Greenwald of Wayne, Ne.Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, an infant daughter, Janelle and two sisters, Berniece and Ellen.
