Raymond Gatzemeyer

Raymond "Ray" Gatzemeyer, age 13, of Fonda, Iowa died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Newell. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Hubbard, Nebraska. Visitation will take place Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Newell. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Raymond James Gatzemeyer was born October 24, 2000 at the St. Luke Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa the son of James and Melody (Gotch) Gatzemeyer. Growing up, Ray attended kindergarten through fifth grade at Wakefield Elementary school in Wakefield, Nebraska. After moving to Fonda, Ray continued fifth grade at Newell-Fonda Community School where he was currently in the seventh grade. While living in Wakefield, Ray was a member of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. He was also a member of the Wakefield and Newell-Fonda football teams. Ray loved being outdoors hunting and coyote chasing with his grandfather, Bill. He also enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler and snow mobile. He had a passion for music and enjoyed listening to music while chatting with friends. Ray loved to laugh and will be remembered for his contagious smile. Family was very important to Ray and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents: James Gatzemeyer and Jaime Meza-Rodriguez of Storm Lake, Iowa; Melody Gotch Gatzemeyer and Nate Riley of Fonda, Iowa; his sister: Brittany Nicole Gatzemeyer of Fonda, Iowa; step siblings: Kyli Riley, Kane Riley, and Preston Riley all of Fonda, Iowa; grandparents: Bill and Deanna Woehler of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Ruth Gotch of Waterbury, Nebraska; step grandparents: Candy and Joe Riley of Schaller, Iowa; great grandmother, Pat Gatzemeyer of Deltona, Florida; uncles: Shawn and Terra Gatzemeyer of Wisconsin; Scott Kamm of Iowa; Bruce Kamm of Nebraska; aunts: Mandy Lanphear of Tennessee; Paula and Mike Heitmann of Nebraska; other aunts; uncles; cousins; extended family and many friends. Ray was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Henry Gotch and Grandma Jackie; great-grandparents: Raymond LeRoy Gatzemeyer, Sr.; Harry and Alvina Gotch; Henry and Ruth VonDrak; cousins: Duane and Michael Shawn Gatzemeyer; and his great uncle, Raymond LeRoy Gatzemeyer Jr.
