Frank Charles Hermelbracht, 81, of Rosalie, Nebraska passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Rosalie, with the Rev. Charity Potter officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. The visitation will continue Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Rosalie, with a prayer service and Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, NE. Frank was born on November 20, 1926 at Bancroft, NE, to John G. and Neva (Charles) Hermelbracht. He received his education at District 78 and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1944. Frank grew up on a farm west of Bancroft. After graduation, he was a corporal in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, and served in the Korean War. After being wounded, he spent 4 months in a hospital in Tokyo, Japan, earning him a Purple Heart. On November 9, 1952 he was united in marriage to Beverly Timmons of Valley, NE. After marriage, Frank and Beverly settled on a farm west of Rosalie, until moving into Rosalie in 1988. Frank was engaged in farming and livestock feeding until his retirement in 1996. While growing up, Frank was a 4-H member, showing hogs, cattle and horses and he forever stayed active in 4-H as a leader in Cuming and Thurston Counties for 55 years. Even after retirement, Frank remained active showing horses, judging horse shows and helping lead the Rosalie Feeders 4-H Club. Frank will always be remembered for his passion for his grandchildren, great grandchild, and 4-H children. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge for 45 years, American Legion for 44 years, Rosalie School Board for 14 years and a past Patron of Eastern Star. Frank was currently serving as President of the First National Bank in Bancroft, a post which he held for 26 years. He was also a director of the bank for 16 years. Frank and Beverly had been active members of the Rosalie United Methodist Church in Rosalie since 1960, where Frank had been Treasurer for 23 years. Survivors include his wife Beverly, sons Ray and his wife Dorla Hermelbracht of Homer, NE; Len and his wife Kellee of Bancroft, NE; and Wes and his wife Jeanne of Rosalie, Ne, grandchildren: Brian, Troy, Chad, Sara, Travis, Molly and Ty, great grandchild, Rylie, sisters Dorothy Enstrom and her husband Lyle of Fremont, NE, Genevieve Gaskins and her husband Bill of Lincoln, NE; and sister-in-law Charlotte Lewis of Gretna, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother John M. Hermelbracht.
