Robert B. Lile

Robert "Bob" Lile 81, of South Sioux City, NE, formerly of Walthill, NE passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Walthill, NE; with Pastor Steven Breazier officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Robert was born on December 3, 1932 in Waterbury, NE, the son of Walter and Gertrude (Smith) Lile. He graduated from Waterbury High School in 1951. On August 29, 1952, Robert was married to Carole Crooks in Sioux City, IA. To this union six children were born: Audrey, Allen, Carla, Lisa, Roberta and LaDonna. In June of 1953, he entered the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Robert was discharged in 1955. The couple returned to Walthill, NE, where he farmed. On February 18, 1991, Carole died. After Carole's death, Robert moved into Walthill. He continued to farm until an automobile accident in 1999. He entered Regency Square Nursing Home in South Sioux City, NE, where he resided until the time of his death. Robert is survived by his son Allen (Rochelle) Lile of South Sioux City, NE, daughters: Audrey (Harold) Chase of Sioux City, IA, Carla Lyon (Robert Warner) of Walthill, NE, Lisa (Alan) Hankins of Emerson, NE and Roberta (Robert) Barclay of Homer, NE. He is also survived by a sister Susan (Richard) Wachter of Bloomfield, NE and a brother William (Susan) Lile of Westminster, CO, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Gertrude, his wife Carole, an infant daughter LaDonna Lile, grandson Corey Lyon, sisters Veronica Paustian and Marjorie Lee, a brother James Lile, father and mother-in-law Frank and Maude Crooks, a brother-in-law Frank Crooks, Jr. and a sister-in-law Donna Kass.
