Larry Kramer

Larry W. Kramer, 73, of Thurston, Nebraska formerly of Wayne, Nebraska died on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Larry will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Larry was born in Wakefield, Nebraska on September 3, 1940, the son of William and Evelyn (Buhl) Kramer. He attended country school near Wakefield and graduated from Wayne High School in 1959. On May 27, 1977, Larry was united in marriage to Fern Horton in Yankton, SD. The couple made their home in Wayne, NE until moving to Thurston in 2009. Larry worked for Carhart Lumber, Baier Auction Company, and owned F&L Variety Store with Fern. He also mowed, did snow removal, and helped on a farm. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and taught them to garden. He found enjoyment having coffee time with friends uptown. On a daily basis, he played many, many games of solitaire at the kitchen table and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Larry especially loved his grandchildren, his animals, and enjoyed gardening and tinkering with junk. Even at coffee, he didn’t have much to say, but enjoyed his friend’s conversations and a simple stop at the post office. Larry is survived by his wife Fern of Thurston, NE; daughter Trudy Kramer (Marty Prokop) of Thurston, NE; step children Terry (Tammy) Hamilton of Sioux City, IA and Tammy (Dennis) Kozak of Columbus, NE, brothers Wayne (Mary) Kramer of Wayne, NE, Bill (Lynn) Kramer of Wayne, Ron (Cecilia) Kramer of Wayne, NE, and a sister Connie (Jim) Granquist of Wayne, NE. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Riley and Skyler Prokop of Thurston, NE, Jennifer Jaeger of Sioux City, IA, Zachary Jaeger of Winside, NE, Dusty Sherer of Lincoln, NE and Carleena and Joyce Sherer of Wakefield, NE, and special friends Marivel, Miguel, Isavel, Angelica and Angel Paredes of Pender, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
