Ann Brownrigg, of Thurston, Nebraska passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at Lexington Regional Hospital in Lexington, NE.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE; with Pastor Charity Potter officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials may be given to John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Following the committal service at Rosehill Cemetery, please join the family for Lunch at the Thurston VFW building in Thurston, NE.
Ann was born on March 7, 1917 in Thurston, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (Prokop) Juzek. She was the fifth of seven children. She attended Sunny Side grade school and Thurston High School. After graduating from Thurston, Ann worked on the family farmstead. Ann Married Bill Gesch in 1934. They moved to Tacoma, Washington. The couple had one son William Gesch. Her husband Bill died shortly after returning to Nebraska. In 1952, Ann met and married Russ Brownrigg, and they moved to Winnebago, NE. To this union her second son Richard was born. Ann worked in the local grocery for about ten years and later as a meat cutter for IBP. In 1972, Russ died of cancer, so Ann moved back to Thurston. She then started working for the local locker plant in Thurston. At the age of 70, she retired living with her granddaughter in Lexington and son in Winnebago. When the winters got too cold, she would stay with Bill and wife Bernice in Texas. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, quilting, canning, painting, crocheting and making jam.
Ann is survived by her son Richard (Mamie) Brownrigg of Winnebago, NE, daughter-in-law Bernice Gesch of Amarillo, TX, sister Alva Suckow of Menomonie, WI, 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and 3 great great great grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s William Gesch and Russ Brownrigg, a son Bill Gesch, 4 brothers: Rudy, Adolph, Alvin and Eddie and a sister Olga.
