Bernice I. Christiansen (Engelhart), 90, of Emerson, NE passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE. Bernice was born January 19, 1924 to Otto and Mahala (Mundt) Nelson in Bloomfield, NE. She attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1942. On June 23, 1943 Bernice married Erwin Engelhart in Lindy, NE. Erwin passed away in 1996. On November 22, 1997 Bernice married Delbert Christiansen in Emerson, NE. Delbert passed away in 2003. Bernice was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. She loved to sing, especially with a group of people at the Senior Center. Bernice spent a lot of her time in her garden tending to her flowers. When she wasn’t outside she was inside playing cards, dancing, and working on puzzles and games. Bernice also loved to sew, crochet and embroider. Bernice is survived by sons; Allen (Ruth) Engelhart of Boone, IA, Loyd (Mary) Engelhart of Pender, NE, daughters; Earlene (Larry) Paulson of Walthill, NE and Connie Price of Walthill, NE, sister; Helen Zimmerman of Emerson, NE, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; Erwin Engelhart and Delbert Chrisitansen, brothers; Irvin Nelson, Harry Nelson, sisters; Pearl Beems Grace Knudson, and Evelyn Nesbit, and great-grandson, Collin Hradec.
