Enid Eileen (Chore) Stanton was born on November 8, 1924 in Bristow, Nebraska to Ernest and Minnie (Olson) Chore. She attended Bristow Community Schools and completed teachers training at Luther Academy in Wahoo, NE. On December 29, 1945, Enid married William Stanton Jr. in Bristow. After their marriage, Enid continued to live in Bristow while Bill returned to the service in Guam. After returning from the service, the Stanton’s remained in Bristow until Bill entered the seminary in Rock Island, Il. After ordination, Bill and Enid served in parishes in East Chain and Pilot Grove, MN, Rockford, IL, Emerson, Ne, Sidney, Ne, and Axtell, Ne. Bill and Enid retired to Emerson, Ne in 1986. They greatly enjoyed returning to share in the lives of the people of Emerson for another decade. In 1996, Bill and Enid moved to Immanuel Village in Omaha, where they lived until the time of Bill’s death in 2003. After Bill’s death, Enid returned to stay at Heritage of Emerson. Enid was truly a partner in Bill’s ministry. Her love of music and love of people were gifts she readily shared throughout her life. Her enjoyment of homemaking and the gift of hospitality made the Stanton home a welcome spot for family and friends. Throughout many health challenges, Enid remained firm in her faith and optimistic in her outlook. Enid is survived by her children and their spouses: Sandra Williams; Nancy and John Marty; John and Mary Stanton; and Deborah and Robert Schmidt, as well as thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Enid was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, son Michael, son-in-law Larry Williams, and her sister Helen Cook.
