Paul P. Thomsen, 48, of Pender, Nebraska died on Monday, August 4, 2014 near Nemo, South Dakota as the result of a motorcycle accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Pender, NE; with Father Gerald Leise officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Lunch will follow the committal service at the Pender Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Paul was born on June 16, 1966 in Pender, Nebraska the son of Pete and Claire (Monahan) Thomsen. Paul was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Pender. He attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1985. After graduation he worked at Automatic Equipment which later became Blue Ox in Pender. Paul never met a stranger and enjoyed socializing where ever he went. He was active in the Pender Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, currently serving as Rescue Chief. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid pool player, playing in several different leagues. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing and attending high school and college athletic events and was a Husker fan. Paul also enjoyed playing cards and riding his motorcycle. He was a community minded person who put others before himself. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Pete and Claire Thomsen and sister Jolleen (Joel) Splittgerber all of Pender, NE and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
