Click here to view the memorial video.Mary Frances (Mert) Beacom, age 64, of Waterbury, Nebraska died on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Nebraska with Fr. Paul M. Albenesius officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, at the church in Jackson from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the South Creek Cemetery, rural Ponca, at a later date. Mary was born on June 29, 1944, in Pender, Ne, the daughter of Francis and Beverly (Chamberlain) Coan. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Emerson. She married Timothy S. Beacom on March 16, 1963 in Elk Point, South Dakota. They spent most of their married life in Waterbury. She was a long-time member of the Waterbury Immaculate Catholic Church until it’s closing, and served as postmaster in Waterbury for more that 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Tim Beacom of Waterbury, one son and his wife, Marty and Rose Beacom of Ponca, Ne, three daughters and their husbands, Angie and Randy Ickler of Wahoo, Ne, Jodi and Tim Lamprecht of Ponca, Ne, and Christi and Brian Rush of Jackson, Ne, one sister, Patricia Gatzemeyer, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Carol Scott and JoAnn Beacom, an infant son John A. Beacom, father-in-law, Ambrose Beacom, mother-in-law, Nellie Beacom, five brothers-in-law, Martin Beacom, Ray Gatzemeyer, and Darrell Beacom, Ed Mello, and William Whipple, three sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Beacom, Peggy Beacom, and Dorothy Beacom, three nephews, Michael Rager, Doug Beacom and Jeff Beacom, and one niece Sadie Beacom. Pallbearers will be Russ Gill, Al Fuscher, (Big) Pat Beacom, (Little) Pat Beacom, Dick Beacom and Dennis Hogan.
