Click here to view the video tribute.Richard K. Chinn, 82, of Emerson, Nebraska died on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home in Emerson. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson; Fr. Mike Malloy will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the church in Emerson. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Burial will follow the lunch at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne, Nebraska. Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson is in charge of the arrangements.Richard was born on June 14, 1926 in Wayne, Nebraska, the son on Charles and Elisabeth (Kallemeyn) Chinn. At an early age Richard moved with his family to Waterbury, Nebraska. He graduated from Waterbury High School in 1944. After two years of study, Richard graduated from the Devry Institute of Electronics. Richard was married to Norma Dendinger on October 5, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Laurel, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born. Richard worked as an electronic technician for Swanson’s TV in Wayne and Karl’s TV in Gregory, South Dakota. Richard and Norma moved to Ponca, Nebraska where they owned and operated the Ponca Hardware Store. He was active in the communities in which they lived. Richard served as Director of the Dixon County Civil Defense, board member for Goldenrod Hills Community Development, member of the Northeast Nebraska Emergency Medical Services, the Ponca Planning and Zoning Commission and volunteered for the Ponca Fire Departments and EMT. After leaving Ponca, Richard and Norma moved to David City, where he worked for David City Manufacturing until retiring in 2000. Richard also worked as a bus driver for the David City Aquinas Schools and for the Emerson-Hubbard Schools. Along with his love for electronics, Richard enjoyed tinkering with cars.He is survived by his wife Norma, sons Charles and wife Marcie Chinn of Emerson, Larry and wife Vicki Chinn of David City, Marlen and wife Jan Chinn of Wayne, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother George Chinn and a great-granddaughter Taylor Lynn Brader.
