Iris F. Larson

Iris F. Larson, 91, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Iris will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Darwin Garton will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Iris was born on June 25, 1923 on a farm southeast of Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Alvin and Evelyn (Gunning) Frederickson. After graduating from Wakefield High School in 1940, Iris attended Wayne Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska. She worked for five years teaching at country schools near Allen and Emerson. On June 8, 1946, Iris was united in marriage to Orville D. Larson at the Wakefield Covenant Church. To this union five children were born: Ronald, Randall, Ramon, Cynthia and LuAnn. The couple farmed in the Allen and Wakefield Area. Orville died on September 11, 1972. In 1975, Iris moved into Wakefield, where she began working at the Fair Store. She was a very active person, serving on the Wakefield Library Board, WCTU, American Legion Auxiliary for 46 years, Thursday Club, Club 16, Covenant Women, XYZ, the Women’s bowling league, and the Wakefield Royalty Club. Over the years, Iris worked selling Avon for many years and sold Stan Home Products. She enjoyed playing domino’s, computer games, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Iris is survived by her sons: Ronald Larson, Randall (fiancé Linda McCoy) and Ramon (Lynette) Larson all of Wakefield, NE; daughters: Cyndee Larson of Omaha, NE and LuAnn (Chip) Wilkins of Lewisville, NC. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, a brother Robert (Marge) Frederickson of Omaha, NE and sisters-in-law Marie Hughes of Arvada, CO and Darlene Frederickson of Omaha, NE, and her 100 year old Aunt Clarice Gunning of Roseville, CA, and twenty-eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, brothers Keith Frederickson, Don Frederickson and David Frederickson. She was also preceded in death by her eight sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and nine nieces and nephews.
