Marjorie S. Kratke

Marjorie June (Gilster) Kratke, 95, of Pender, NE passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Legacy Gardens in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender, NE with Pastor Robert Schilling officiating. Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m. Monday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Pender, NE. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Marjorie was born on June 14, 1919 to Frank and Blanche (Lund) Gilster in Pender, NE. She was baptized in October, 1920 and confirmed April 2, 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender. She attended District #57 Country School in Cuming County. On January 19, 1938 Marjorie married Deloy Fred Kratke at St. John’s Lutheran Church. To this union they had two daughters Joan and Jane. Marjorie was a lifelong member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender, NE and served on the Ladies Aid Committee. She loved to make cookies for her family and neighbors. She enjoyed embroidering pillow cases, making T-towels for the family members and quilting baby blankets for all her great grandchildren. Most of all Marjorie loved spending time with her family in Wisconsin and Nebraska. Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Joan (Duane) Meister of Portage, WI and Jane (Bob) Kobza of Columbus, NE; sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Simonsen of Pender, NE and Margie Gilster of Pender, NE; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Blanche; husband Deloy Kratke; brothers, Kenneth Gilster and Glen Gilster; sister, Mae Anderson and twin great grandchildren Ava and Noah Bungey. The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy Gardens in Pender and the Hospice staff for their special care given to Marjorie.
