Click here to view the memorial video.Kathryn F. (Loofe) Reynolds went to her heavenly home on Thurs. Oct. 30, 2008. Visitation on Sunday November 2, will begin at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill, NE . Funeral mass at St. Joseph’s will be at 10:30 Monday followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Kathryn was born Dec.14.1918 in the Picotte Hospital in Walthill to George and Pauline (Ueding) Loofe. She rode her horse to Walthill High School until graduation in 1936. Katie was united in marriage to James B. Reynolds on Dec.29th, 1944 until his death in Nov. 1979. They made their home their entire lives in Walthill. Kathryn was employed by the Soil Conservation Service and Natural Resource District for 28 years, retiring in Aug. 1988. She was active in the Altar Society, New Comers Club, Walthill Business Club and was honored for dedicated service to the community in 1988. Kathryn had many interests including sewing, needle work, canning, flowers, reading, travel, and most importantly - her family. She wanted “to live long enough to complete everything she had in mind to accomplish”. In 2003 she was struck with Giullain-Barre’ syndrome which paralyzed her for some time and her last years were spent at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City. In mourning are her son Douglas of Walthill, a daughter Mary K. and her husband Dr. Donald Schenk of Sioux City, and a son-in-law Neal McQuistan of Pender; six grandsons J.J. , Matt, and Luke Morgan, Tim and Jon McQuistan, and Tony Whelchel; five great grandsons, one great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was welcomed to the house of our Lord by her parents, husband , daughter Georgia McQuistan, her three sisters and their spouses Ruth and Ed Alam, Alice and Pat Mahaney , Mary Elizabeth who died in infancy, one brother and his spouse George and Irene Loofe and long time friend, Harold “Dusty“ Boyd. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Walthill or Hospice of Siouxland.
