Burial will be at St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Sharon was born August 1, 1945 in Sioux City, IA to Donn and Emma Wilmott. She was happily married to Dale Westerhold on October 6, 1963. Over the 45 years she was blessed with three children, daughter Kelly, sons Kevin and Kyle and two grandchildren Austin and Hap, whom she loved very much. In March of 2007 she had surgery and spent four months in the hospital. Although she fought hard, she just could not recover from it.
Sharon had many friends and loved to visit on the phone, often calling friends and family three to four times a day. She loved to read and had a very curious mind about the wonderful mysteries that this world held. It gives us great joy to know, that now she knows all the mysteries this world has to offer. Sharon always kept the books she read because every one was special to her and she just couldn’t part with it.
She loved to go to the mountains and especially liked the tundra above the tree line. The views are beautiful and she found enjoyment in the clear air and looking at the mountain vistas from the high places. She loved the smell of fresh cut grass, spring flowers, and the trees when walking amongst them and the sight of snow on the mountains. She especially loved fresh rain. She made sure we noticed these pleasures as well.
Sharon is survived by her husband Dale of Greeley, CO, daughter Kelly and grandsons Austin and Hap, living in Albuquerque, NM and son Kevin living in Calimesa, CA. Also, her sisters Karen in Sioux City, IA, Jeanine, of Wayne, NE, Dixie in Concord, NE and many nieces and nephews. Family is very important to her. She loves us all so much, she told us so very often.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother, Donnie, and sister, Sonny and her son Kyle, who died in June 1987. She thought of Kyle everyday and often wept at his loss. Now she will be with him forever, and hug all of them everyday. She will be there to greet the rest of us with open arms when our time comes, but for now she would want us to enjoy our lives to the fullest. “Smell that rain and those flowers” she would say to us and “Always remember how I loved life and all of you”.
