Ed Maryott

Click here to view the memorial video.Ed Maryott, 79, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center after complications from a brief illness. Ed Maryott was born April 16, 1929 in Macy, NE. He was the only son of Charles A. “Chick” and Edna King Maryott, both of Macy. He graduated from Lincoln High and attended the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Ed served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. He farmed in the Macy area from 1955 until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Thurston County Board of Supervisors from 1998-2004, serving as Chairman in 2003 and 2004. Ed married Jean Murphy on July 31, 1965 in Sioux City, IA. He is survived by his wife, Jean and five children – Charles J. (Chick) of Decatur, NE, Ann of Wayne, NE, Sue of Lincoln, NE, Megan of Omaha, NE and Beth and her husband, Mark Porter of North Bend, NE and granddaughter, Sydney Porter. His funeral service will be held on Friday, November 14th at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill, NE followed by interment at the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Church in Walthill followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial are suggested to the Walthill Public Library or the Walthill Volunteer Fire Department.
