Click here to view the memorial video.Patricia “Patsy” Rose Mahaney, 78, of Walthill, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa after a short illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill, Nebraska with Fr. Michael Eckley officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Church in Walthill with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a wake service at 6:00 p.m that evening. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill. Patsy was born on June 16, 1930 to Patrick “P.J.” and Rose (Foley) McGowen. She graduated from Jackson Public School. She attended college at Wayne State College and taught school in the Walthill and Winnebago area. On July 4, 1953 she married Donald Mahaney at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in her home town of Jackson, Ne. The couple returned to Camp Polk, Louisiana while Donnie finished his service in the U.S. Army. In 1954 they settled on a farm in Walthill where Patsy taught school and Donnie farmed. She taught at several schools in the area. In 1964, the couple adopted two children. Patricia is survived by her husband of 55 years, a daughter, Madonna Bromander and her husband Ron of Ponca, Ne, and their four children, Carissa, Calena, Cara, and Conner, a son Mike and his wife Gina of Walthill, and their three children Brandon, Michaela and Schuyler, a sister, Marguerite “Marg” McGowen of Jackson, Ne, a brother William “Bill” McGowen and his wife Marilyn of Hubbard, Ne, a niece, Kristy of Kansas, a nephew Danny of Texas and a special family member Tami Bellar from Columbus and her three children, Jennifer, Nicole and Michael. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jack, and a niece Kathy.
