Catherine D. Stansberry

Click here to view the memorial video.Catherine D. (Hudec) Stansberry, 93, of Walthill, Nebraska passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Heritage of Emerson Care Center in Emerson, Nebraska. Catherine was born on October 15, 1915 in Walthill, Nebraska to James and Catherine (Pinker) Hudec. She grew up in rural Walthill and graduated from Walthill High School in 1934. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught one year at the rural Fuller School. On January 11, 1936 she married Gale M. Stansberry in Walthill. Catherine devoted her life to making a home for her husband and six children. She enjoyed growing flowers, raising chickens, and planting a garden of vegetables that she canned for the winter meals. She attended school activities for her children and grandchildren and supported them in every way possible. Catherine was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill where the visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 28, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill. Catherine is survived by five sons: Lloyd and his wife Geraldine Stansberry of Walthill, Ne; Edward and his wife Marjorie Stansberry also of Walthill; Robert and his wife Jan Stansberry of Pender, Ne; Delbert and his wife Kathleen Stansberry of Phoenix, Az; Douglas and his wife Pam Stansberry of Lyons, Ne, and a daughter Teresa Murphy and her husband Mike of Homer, Ne. Catherine was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gale in 1991. She has also gone to meet six sisters, one brother, a grandson and a granddaughter in Heaven.
