Dwain H. Luhr

Dwain Herman Luhr, 82, of Lake Andies, South Dakota formerly of Pender, Nebraska passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in South Dakota. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender, NE; with Pastor Steve Tjarks officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Dwain was born May 8, 1932 in Pender, NE to Lloyd and Lela (Cook) Luhr. He attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1949. On June 22, 1955, Dwain married Marceline (McElhose) in Pender, to this union four children were born. Dwain loved the outdoors, he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He was proud of his military accomplishments while serving in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. Dwain is survived by his sons, Terry (Kathy) Luhr of Omaha, NE, Kerry Ray Luhr of Lake Andies, SD, and Mark Luhr of Norfolk, NE; daughter, Cheryl (Gordon) Kyriss of Norfolk, NE; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dwain is preceded in death by his wife, Marceline and his parents.
