Click here to view the memorial video.Dorothy L. Driskell, 92, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Jerome Cloninger will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. The family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Dorothy Louise (Sar) Driskell, the youngest of three daughters of Charles and Nina (Hallburg) Sar, was born in Wakefield on June 17, 1916. Dorothy had been a life-long member of Salem Lutheran church. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1934, then attended Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. On April 23, 1940, she married her high school sweetheart, William “Buck” Driskell. The couple made their home on the family farm southeast of Wakefield. After Buck’s death in 1988, Dorothy moved to a home in Wakefield. She had been an active member of Salem’s Ladies Circle, XYZ, the Serve-All Extension Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. After moving into Wakefield, Dorothy also had been a volunteer at the Wakefield Care Center. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and quilting, especially helping to make the “Senior Quilts” for the Salem graduates.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Mary and husband LeVern Lundahl of Wakefield, Marcia and husband Bob Cook of Elkhorn, and Rick and wife Sandy Driskell of Wakefield, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buck, two sisters Helen Kolbe Coe and Adelyn Lewis, and a great-granddaughter, Regina Lundahl.
