Click here to view the memorial video.Kermit G. Turner, 89, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Terry Buethe will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Kermit was born on August 25, 1919 in Wayne, Nebraska, the son of Jerry and Inez (Carr) Turner. In February of 1941, Kermit enlisted in the United States Army. While in the Army, Kermit was stationed in Louisiana, then during WW II was sent overseas to England then Africa and into Italy. He was with the 33rd Infantry Company for 4 ½ years. After leaving the service, Kermit married Margaret Becker on February 12, 1946 in Wakefield. Together the couple farmed near Wakefield until retiring and moving into Wakefield in the 1980’s. Kermit was a member of the Wakefield VFW and American Legion and long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Along with woodworking, Kermit enjoyed the time he spent having coffee uptown with his friends. Kermit is survived by his wife Margaret, children: daughter Patricia Ricketts and son Jerry Turner and his wife Dorothy of Denver, Colorado, a daughter Barbara Turner of Lincoln and a son Thomas Turner of Columbus, three grandchildren: Rebecca and husband Jim Pince, Bradley Turner all of Denver, and Charity Turner of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a great grandson Raymond Turner of Lincoln. He is also survived by many nieces nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frances Turner, brothers Robert Turner, Preston “Slick” Turner, and his twin brother Kenneth Turner.
