Click here to view the memorial video.Leona M. Glissman, 92, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Pender with the Rev. Neal Allen officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Leona was born on September 17, 1916 in Decatur, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Esther (Perkins) Bacon. She married Donald Glissman on February 28, 1940 in Omaha, Ne. After their marriage they lived in Pender, Emerson and Thurston, before returning to the Farm near Pender. In 1982 they moved into Pender. Donald passed away on August 17, 2003. In 1959 Leona went to work for the Pender Clinic. She worked there for over 25 years. Her interests included quilting and making dolls. She enjoyed being around her family and friends. Leona is survived by sons Dennis and his wife Shirley of Papillion, and Terry and his wife Sandra of Pender, grandchildren Mark and Cecily of Vienna, VA, Jill and Phil Pratt of Papillion, William Glissman of North Sioux City, SD, Bryan and Laurie Glissman of Glendale, AZ, and Debra and Tim Schaefer of Wayne, Nebraska. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, two brothers and two sisters.
