Glenn Holm Meyer, 87, of Bancroft, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender; with Ben Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial with military honors will be in the Bancroft City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home.Glenn was born July 24, 1928 in Bancroft, NE to William E. and Lillie (Holm) Meyer. He attended and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1946. After entering the Air Force and serving in the Korean War for four years, he returned home and went to school on the GI Bill in Lyons, Nebraska. Glenn was baptized in 1954, and married Shirley Oehlerking on April 18, 1954 in Leeds, Iowa. The couple returned to the Bancroft area where Glenn was a lifelong farmer and a rural mail carrier for 7 years. Glenn was a Church Leader and Preacher for the Church of Christ, 4-H leader for 25 years, and an active member and former board member of the Senior Center. He also served on the Bancroft and Cuming County School Boards and the Co-op Board. He enjoyed playing pool and singing while playing his accordion at festivals. Glenn is survived by his wife, Shirley Meyer of Bancroft, NE; son, Randy Meyer of South Sioux City, NE; daughters, Carol (Bob) Filler of Olive Branch, MS, Kathy (Brad) Morgan of Walthill, NE; brothers, Wayne Meyer of Pender, NE, William “Woody” (Reva) Meyer and Jim (Lois) Meyer both of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jaworski; sisters-in-law, Bernice Meyer and Joy Meyer.
