Margaret R. Heineman

Margaret Rose (Leonard) Heineman, 92, of Pender, NE, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, December 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE; Pastor Miles Ruch will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Margaret was born May 22, 1923 to Harvey and Emma (Wichman) Leonard in Thurston County. She graduated from Thurston High School in 1940. Margaret married Melvin Heineman on October 10, 1943 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. The couple had six children. The couple farmed near Thurston. In 1957, they moved to a farm near Pender. In 1960, Margaret and Melvin moved into Pender, where she cared for their children and worked at the school as a teacher’s aide. Margaret was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, a circle member, Ladies Auxiliary, the CC Club, and the Senior Center. She loved to crochet, bake, garden, and attend community events. Most of all, Margaret loved her family and grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her son, Ken (Jan) Heineman of Wickenburg, AZ; daughters, Genene (Darrell) Eriksen of Omaha, NE, Jane (Cary) Koopman of Hubbard, NE; grandchildren, Brent Eriksen, Kimberly (Jeff) Waddelow, Travis Koopman and friend Sara Vraspir, Brandon (Katie) Koopman, Hollie Koopman, Heather (Justin) Grebe, Haley Koopman, and Matthew Heineman and friend Hannah Glinski; great grandchildren, Brody Koopman, Kendall and Ryan Waddelow, Marjorie Koopman, and Cooper and Raelynn Grebe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents; twin sons; infant daughter Janet; grandsons, Eugene and Paul; three brothers, Elmer, Wallace, and Donald Leonard; and sister Marlene Witt.
