Regina Ida Russman

Regina Ida (Swanson) Russman, 97, of Bancroft, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bancroft Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charity Potter officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Regina was born to Charles and Emma (Lange) Swanson in Oakland, Nebraska on September 22, 1911. She attended grade school at Jefferson School north of Lyons, and graduated from Lyons High School in May of 1929. Regina was united in marriage to Raymond Russman on March 7, 1932. They lived on a farm north of Bancroft, NE. She is remembered as a loving grandmother, having a big garden and lots of chickens. Having been a good cook she will be remembered for her angel food cakes and cookies. She was a warm, loving and a comfort to be with. She was a charter member of the Jolly Neighbors Club. Regina moved to Logan Valley Manor in August of 1999. Her quiet mannerism made her a person easy to respect and listen to. That gave her a power of love that was never ending. Regina is survived by her daughter-in-law Carmen Russman and Duane Ahlers of Rosalie, NE, two sisters, Leora Russman of Bancroft, and Delores Carlson of Oakland, NE, five grandchildren: Scott (Rhonda) Russman of Farnam, NE; Terri (Todd) Alberts of St. Paul, NE; Mark (Shelly) Russman of Wisner, NE; Michael (Melinda) Russman of Bartlett, NE; and Tyler Russman also of Bartlett, NE. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Regina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, her son Dallas Russman, four sisters, Ethel Beck, Phyllis Brecker, Audrey Frank, and Iona Swanson.
