Click here to view the memorial video.John Rutar, 92, of Pender, Nebraska died on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Ne. A funeral service for John will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson; Fr. Mike Malloy will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender with a Prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. John was born in Thurston, Nebraska on April 3, 1917, the son of John and Frances Rutar. He married Mary Zavorka on December 30, 1948. He farmed until the early 1980’s but continued to help his sons long after that. He was a member of Emerson Sacred Heart Church, and the Knight’s of Columbus. He loved his devoted wife of 60 plus years, family, friends and farming. John also enjoyed entertaining his loving family into his 90’s by playing the accordion and his harmonica. John is survived by his wife, Mary of Pender, six children: Louis Rutar and his wife Merry Lou of Thurston; Richard Rutar and his wife Teresa of Pender, NE; Frances Rutar-Moore and her husband Jim of Los Angeles, CA; Dan Rutar and his wife Ann of Saugus, CA; Jim Rutar and his wife Tami of Pender; and Tina Sudbeck and her husband Mike of Hampden, ME, 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn son, siblings, Jerry Rutar, Mary Malasek, Agnes Pallas, a brother in infancy, and grandchildren, infant twins Louis and Kevin Rutar, and Marvin Jared Rutar.
