Helen Frances (Galda) Jasa, 95, of Fremont, NE, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at Nye Point Health Center in Fremont. Funeral services will be Friday, February 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston, NE; Pastor Charity Potter is officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Helen was born June 10, 1920 to Jaroslav and Anna (Skvor) Galda in Omaha, NE. She was confirmed at the Bohemian Brethren Presbyterian Church in Omaha in 1933. After graduating from South Omaha High School, Helen graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1942. She worked in Detroit, Michigan before moving back to Nebraska in 1945 where she worked at Swift and Company from 1945 until 1954. Helen met Timothy Jasa and they were married at the Bohemian Brethren Presbyterian Church on March 14, 1954. They raised four boys. The couple farmed between Thurston and Pender. She worked several years as a social worker in Thurston County.
Helen was a member of the John Huss Presbyterian church and received her honorary life pin from Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a hospice volunteer for Hospice of Siouxland.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Sally) Jasa of Lyons, NE, Paul (Lisa) Jasa of Lincoln, NE, Christian (Brenda) Jasa of Bradshaw, NE, Douglas Jasa (Julie Orwick) of Liberty, MO; sister, Marie Galda of Omaha, NE; and grandchildren, Katie (Philip) Styrt, John Jasa, Jeffrey Jasa, and Aaron Jasa.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Timothy Paul; brother-in-law, Joe (Doris Jean) Jasa; and sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Fillipi.
