Helen Katherine Vosteen was born on March 30, 1915 in rural Cuming County, Nebraska, the oldest of three children to Dick and Mary (Vogt) Vosteen. Helen was united in marriage to Harvey Heineman at the home of her parents on January 31, 1937. Together they farmed north of Pender until May 1976 when they moved into Pender. On December 28, 1978, Harvey died in a tractor accident. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Women’s Circle, Alter Guild, mailing, quilting and Sunday School. Helen also liked to travel, and had visited all fifty states. Most of all she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her loving grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing her life are her three children; Gary (Mary) Heineman of Sloan, IA; Leann (Dennis) Jeppson of Wahoo, NE and Don Heineman and special friend Rae Brown of Pender. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delta Vosteen of Pender; and a host of other relatives and friends.
