Henry Tarnow, Jr.

Henry Tarnow, Jr., 83, of Wakefield, NE, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Barbara Hansen will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial with military honors will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post 81. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Henry was born May 31, 1932 on a farm outside of Wakefield to Henry and Bertha (Hansen) Tarnow. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1949 and went into the Army where he served for two years in Greenland. Henry was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #81 and worked at Michael’s Food’s Industry for 15 years. He was also a farmer for most of his life. Henry is survived by nephew, Bruce (Deb) Lundahl of Wakefield, NE; great nephews, Brook Lundahl of Wakefield, NE, Scott Lundahl of Norfolk, NE, Eric Lundahl of Pender, NE, Pete Lundahl of Omaha, NE; great nieces, Tanya Lundahl of Norfolk, NE, Andrea (Wes) Blecke of Wayne, NE, and Kelsie (Sean) Draper of Cameron, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Lundahl; and nephew Gale “Pete” Lundahl.
