Click here to view the video tribute.Gladys Rohde, 85, of Allen, Nebraska died peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 28, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1, 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Allen, Nebraska with the Rev. Karen Tjarks officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Allen, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, Nebraska.Gladys was born on August 25, 1923 on a farm northwest of Emerson, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Hoeck) Dittman. She attended grade school at District #35 in Dixon County, graduating from Emerson High School in 1941. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Gladys married Darrel Rohde on August 7, 1941. He died in 1999. They farmed for 25 years northeast of Allen, moving into Allen in 1973 where they operated a business. She worked with Darrel in farming, and later in the business.She enjoyed her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She liked to sew, making quilts, crocheting and listening to polka music.Gladys is survived by four children: Pauline Yamauchi of Bellevue, NE; Tootie Rohde of Omaha, NE; Ron Rohde of Dakota City, NE; and Keith Rohde and his wife Shari also of Omaha, NE, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Darrel, a son, Darrel Lee, son-in-law Norman Yamauchi, grandchild, N. David Yamauchi, three brothers and two sisters.
