Louise M. Christiansen

Louise M. (Kai) Christiansen, 98, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Pender Care Centre in Pender. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, with the Rev. Donald Olson officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. also at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender, NE. Louise was born on March 5, 1911 in Wayne County, Nebraska, the daughter of Claus and Anna (Korth) Kai. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne County, Nebraska. She married Harold “Pete” Christiansen in Elk Point, South Dakota on May 20, 1929. To this union were born eight children: Kenny, Densil, Norman, Sharon, Faye, Myron, Joel and Merlin. Louise is survived by children: Kenneth Christiansen and his wife Faye, daughter Sharon Buchholz, Faye Ross and her husband Roger all of Pender, Nebraska, son Butch and his wife Duff of Columbus, NE; son Joel Christiansen of Lincoln, NE; and son Mert and his wife Deb of Pender. She is also survived by daughters’-in-law Elaine and Jill Christiansen both of Pender, thirty grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, sons Densil and Norman Christiansen, son-in-law Charles Buchholz, 17 brothers and sisters and a great-great granddaughter, Vera Long.
