Click here to view the memorial video.Donald L. Urbanec, 68, of Walthill, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009 in Decatur, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, Nebraska with the Rev. Brion Tolzman officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill. Donald was born on April 10, 1941 in Walthill, Nebraska, the son of James and Helen (Bohaboy) Urbanec. He graduated from Walthill High School in 1959. He married Marsha Zeleny on January 14, 1962 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller, NE. He had two sons, Scott born on October 17, 1962, and Tony born on July 19, 1965. Donald farmed throughout his life and also became a car dealer in the mid 1980’s, first with C & D Used Cars of Walthill, and then building Don and Scott’s Used Cars in October of 1988. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, playing cards, fantasy football, and especially hunting mushrooms. Donald is survived by sons Scott Urbanec and his wife Barbara of Walthill, NE. and Tony Urbanec of South Sioux City, Ne, grandchildren: Christopher and Channa Urbanec of Sioux City, Iowa, and step grandchildren Amber, Austin and Aaron Steichen of Walthill, NE. Don is also survived by his significant other, Jean Wiersma of Decatur, NE. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marsha in 1996, five brothers, Jim, Fred, Raymond, Ed and Ernie, and two sisters, Helen and Elsie.
