William Bolton

March 6, 1924 — July 31, 2016

William Bolton, 92, of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Regency Square Care in South Sioux City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Walthill, NE; Father Dan Wittrock and Father Mark Beran will be officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Bill was born March 6, 1924 at the Nebraska Children’s Home in Omaha, NE. He was adopted in 1928 by Floyd and Cecil Bolton and in 1942. he graduated from Walthill High School. Bill married Gloria Crum in 1945 and the couple had four daughters. He later married Betty Worthington. Bill had various jobs throughout his life, farming, working at Piper Furniture and Funeral Home in Lyons, a road grader operator and snow plow operator for Thurston County, and a maintenance worker for the village of Walthill. He enjoyed music, especially playing the saxophone and he still played the harmonica. He loved to tell his grandkids stories about growing up during the depression and “working on the road.” Bill is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Al) Snyder of Caledonia, MN, Gayle (Kevin) Tonjes of Omaha, NE, Mary Lynn (Ron) Thacker of Sergeant Bluff, IA; step-daughter, Lisa (Dean) Jackson of Fremont, NE; son-in-law, Mike Loofe of Wakefield, NE, 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; daughter, Kathleen Loofe; and great grandson, Bodie Houfek.
