Roger L. Suhr

Roger Leroy Suhr, 76, of Pender, NE died on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Unity Point Health Center in Sioux City, IA. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Pastor Beverly Rautenberg-Panko is officiating. The visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2016 at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Roger was born October 12, 1939 to Elmer and Leona (Surber) Suhr in Emerson, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Roger started school at District 2, the “Frog Pond”, later graduating from Pender High School in 1957. Roger married Lynda Carter on June 17, 1957 in Pender, NE. He served several years on the school board and county board. Roger was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder who loved horses. He also enjoyed fishing. Roger was his family’s number one fan and a cowboy at heart. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynda; son, Steve (Deb) Suhr; daughter, Suzy (Mike) Hastings all of Pender, NE; brothers, Richard (Bonny) Suhr, Butch (Nancy) Suhr; sister, Sharolyn Fett; brothers-in-law, Erle (Candie) Carter, Chuck (Marti) Carter; grandchildren, Amy (Shawn) Shoup, Matt (Lindsay) Hastings, Jeremy Hastings (Kayla Jackson), Brandi (Nick) Dirks, and Jaymi Suhr; great grandchildren Lillian Hastings, Anna Hastings, Carter Dirks and Kaylee Dirks; and special friends of the family, Kaiden Mrsny, Jaxon Mrsny and Olivia Mrsny; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; young brother, Ronald Suhr; and brother-in-law, Roger Fett.
