She was baptized on November 16, 1926 and confirmed on September 22, 1940 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. Eleanor graduated from Emerson High School in 1941, where she participated in Normal Training. She began teaching at age 16 in rural Winnebago. When Glen passed away in 1974, she continued to help on the farm until recently when her health began to fail. She is well known for the meals and lunches that she provided for the men on the farm, as well as her grandchildren. Anyone that knows Eleanor will tell your that her specialty was chocolate chip cookies and brownies. When not cooking or baking, she was busy chasing after parts on a moment's notice. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill; serving on the Ladies Aid, Bible school, and Sunday school. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Roger (LeaAnn) Tremayne of Walthill, NE, Merlyn (Kristy) Tremayne of Homer, NE; daughter, Starla (Dave) Benedix of Kingsley, IA; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
