Kay Gatzemeyer

Kay Lynn (Foote) Gatzemeyer, 57, of Pender, NE died surrounded by her family at her home on Sunday, October 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Memorial service for Kay will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE; Pastor Dave Rusk will be officiating.  A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and a prayer service from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church in Wakefield.  Burial will be at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Pender is in charge of the arrangements. Kay was born on November 28, 1958, in Wakefield, NE, the daughter of Dewayne and Beverly (Helgren) Foote.  Kay graduated from Wakefield High School in 1977.  On December 27, 2000, she was united in marriage to Robert Gatzemeyer.  The couple made their home in Pender.  Most recently she was an assisted living aide at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE.  Kay enjoyed the outdoors, fishing gardening and camping. Most of all she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family. Kay is survived by her husband Robert of Pender, NE; daughter, Jamie Foote of Pender, NE; sons, Matt Gatzemeyer of Pender, NE and Kailub Gatzemeyer of Pender, NE. She is also survived by her mother Beverly and stepfather Dave Rusk of Wakefield, NE; sisters, Vicki Foote, Deb (Robert) Gustafson and Pam (Dwight) Vander Veen all of Wakefield, NE; brothers, Lee (Dee) Foote and Jim (Sarah) Rusk of Wakefield, NE and Bill (Kim) Rusk of Norfolk, NE; and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her father, Dewayne Foote; grandparents; in-laws, Roger and Janice Thomsen and niece, Rachel Lee Foote.
