Margaret Lorene Prill Fischer, of Holdredge, NE, formerly of Wakefield, NE died on Sunday, November 13, 2016 in Holdredge, NE. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE; with Pastor Barbara Hansen officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. Margaret was born at the rural home of her parents Ralph and Bertha Carpenter Prill at Page, Nebraska. She passed away on November 13, 2016, the second of four children was born January 30, 1928. In infancy, Margaret was baptized and later became a member of the Page Methodist Church. Her early education was in Rural District 23 Holt County, Nebraska. She graduated from Page High School and attended Wayne State Teachers College. In 1944, at the age of 16, Margaret began teaching in rural schools of Holt and Antelope Counties. She returned to Wayne State in 1948. In 1949, Margaret came to Wakefield where she taught the second and third grades. When the Wakefield Community Hospital opened, she became its first receptionist. Margaret was united in marriage on March 25, 1952, to Melvin J. Fischer at Page, Nebraska. They began their married life on a farm southeast of Wakefield, Nebraska, and became the parents of two sons and three daughters. Margaret was a homemaker and farming companion for 48 years of married life until Melvin passed away in 2000. Her family was inspired by her devotion to her husband. She took great pride in making her house a home for her family. Margaret was always willing to help others and was generous with her talents, which included baking, sewing, and gardening. She was actively involved with Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, joining in 1954. Margaret taught Sunday School, was a member of WELCA, and served on various committees and organizations for the church. She was also a charter member of the Wakefield Health Care Center Auxiliary and served for over 50 years. Margaret is survived by her brother Robert Prill, her five children Devon (Denise) Fischer of Omaha, Kathleen “Kitty” (Doug) Soderberg of Lakeville, Minnesota, Keralyn “Kerry” (Michael) Waller of Holdrege, Nebraska, Kimberly “Kim” (Glenn) Sines of Westby, Wisconsin, and Dwight Fischer of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Brandon (Kelly), Brett (Caitlyn), and Brian Fischer, Nathan (Shandra) Soderberg, Allisa, Audra, and Addison Waller, and Sophia and Katerina Sines. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Lilia, Lawson, and Leyton Fischer, Louis Soderberg and Charolette Waller. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Marian Van Horn, her brother Donald Prill, her grandson Kevan Soderberg, as well as her mother-in-law and many brothers- and sisters-in-law for whom she cared deeply.
