Delva Eileen (Bradfield) Brokaw, 82, of Bancroft, NE, passed away at an Omaha hospital on Monday, November 28, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender, Pastor James Carretto will be officiating. The visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, an Orphan Grain Train trailer will be open for monetary or material donations at the funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Delva was born July 5, 1934 in West Point, NE to Rollin E. and Linda (Heller) Bradfield. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Wisner, NE and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on March 30, 1947. Delva attended Immanuel Lutheran School in rural Beemer, NE. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender and the ladies aid, enjoyed playing cards at the Bancroft Senior Center, as well as sewing cooking and quilting. She also loved gardening and spoiling all of her grandchildren. Delva was passionate about volunteering and donated over 300 quilts in one year to the Orphan Grain Train. She was very passionate about volunteering and caring for others. Survivors include daughters, Ramona Alspaugh of Missoula, MT, Fawn (Dave) Egeberg of Omaha, NE, Linda (Nick) Vandenberg of David City, NE, Nita O’Quinn of West Point, NE, Lynette (Dave Siegel) Brokaw of York, NE; sons, Mel (Laurie) Brokaw of Bancroft, NE, Jerry (Sonnie) Brokaw of Brainard, NE, Todd (Joyce) Brokaw of Arlington, WA, Ned (Rachel) Brokaw of Moriarty, NM, Colin (Shelby) Brokaw of Winside, NE, Delvin (Jackie) Brokaw of Denison, TX; brothers; Virgil (Jean) Bradfield, Dale Bradfield, Lyle (Nancy) Bradfield, Rollin (Karen) Bradfield, Jr.; brother-in-law, Larry Drews; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Delva is preceeded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Janet; infant son, Michael; grandson Nathan Brokaw, sisters, Shirley and Walter Broekemeier, Rolene Drews; infant brother, Daniel; sisters-in-law Dorothy Bradfield and Mary Bradfield. The Orphan Grain Train is a Christian Volunteer network that ships donated food, clothing, medical supplies, and other needed items to people in 65 different countries including the U.S.A.
