Stan Glissman

John Stanley Glissman, 82, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Pender Care Centre. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft with the Rev. Philip Hale officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Stan was born on December 18, 1926 to Percival and Agnes (Rebensdorf) Glissman on a farm south of Pender, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Pender, NE. He attended District #53 School and Pender High School. He was re-confirmed in 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft where he is a member. He was married to Eunice Persson on June 15, 1952. To this union were born three children: Blayne, Denise and Brett. Stan farmed most of his life and enjoyed feeding cattle. He also worked as a lineman for the Bell Telephone Co., and worked winters at Automatic Equipment, Meierdierks Hardware of Pender, and Thompson Distributing Co. of Omaha, NE. He served as School Board President of District 53 School, and on the Nebraska School Improvement Association, and was an honorary member of the FFA. He was a resident of the Pender Care Centre for the last two years. Stan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eunice, a son Blayne and his wife Susan of Lincoln, NE, a daughter Denise Glissman of Anaheim, CA, and a son Brett Glissman of Fullerton, CA, and grandsons Garth and Taylor Glissman of Lincoln, NE, and a brother, Don Glissman and his wife Dianna of Pender, NE, and a sister-in-law Barb Glissman of Omaha, NE. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Larry, and a sister, Anita Elaine Bruno.
