Norman “Cope” Cecil Brondum, 87, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Pastor Beverly Rautenberg-Panko will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The burial will be at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery near Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Norman was born March 17, 1929 to Christian and Martha (Schmidt) Brondum in Pender, NE. He was baptized January 8, 1932 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and graduated from Pender High School. Norman entered the United States Army in 1950 and was discharged in 1952. Norman married May Lou Peirson in 1981. She passed away April 22, 2011. Norman was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Wood Carvers Guild, and enjoyed horse and buggy restoration. He was survived by his sons, Chris Brondum of St. Francis, MN, Dell (Cindy) Brondum of Adel, IA, Harlie Brondum of Bellevue, NE, Jeff Brondum of Shoreline, WA; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and special friend Sherli Ventling of Grand Junction, CO. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Kim; and granddaughter Erica Brondum; brothers, Dale and Harold; and his sisters, Dolly, Vena, Edith and Doris.
