Lorraine R Hitz

Lorraine R. Hitz, 94, of Wakefield, NE passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE.  Funeral services for Lorraine will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Patti Meyer will be officiating.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.  Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.  The family wishes memorials to be made to the Orphan Grain Train in memory of Lorraine.   Lorraine was born in Wakefield, NE on September 17, 1922, the daughter of Elmer and Irene (Ericson) Felt.  She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School.  After graduation, Lorraine attended Wayne State Teachers School and taught country school near Wakefield for a couple years.  She went on to work at the Wakefield Republican newspaper.  Lorraine was united in marriage to Alfred Hitz on October 27, 1944 in Lawton, OK.  To this union three sons were born; Paul, David and Mark.  Lorraine worked as a receptionist for Dr. Coe at the Wakefield Medical Clinic for seventeen years.    She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, serving on the ladies aid, WELCA, Circle and the church choir.  Lorraine was a member of Club 16 and active in the Little Red Hen Theater in Wakefield.   Lorraine is survived by her sons; Paul (Joan) Hitz of Houston, TX, David (Stacey) Hitz of Denver, CO and Mark (Rendy) Hitz of Dallas, TX.  She is also survived by four grandchildren; Ashley Powell, Laura Steen, Zachary Hitz and Ethan Hitz; three great grandchildren; Emma Powell, Liam Powell and Sawyer Steen; sister Lavonne Felt of Wakefield, NE, sister-in-law Lois Felt of Denver, CO and many special nieces and nephews.   She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al on January 21, 2010, brothers; Robert Felt and John Felt and a sister Vivian Andrews.
