Robert D. Watson

Visitation announcement: Visitation has been postponed to Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church.Robert “Bob” D. Watson, 90, of Walthill, Nebraska died on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE.  Funeral services for Bob will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender.  The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender.  Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Bob was born on September 27, 1926 in Walthill, Nebraska the son of Alonzo and Ruth (McManigal) Watson.  He married Mary Mauer on June 7, 1956 in Maringo, Iowa.  They lived in Walthill until 2007 when they moved to Rosalie, NE.  He spent his final 3 years with friends and staff at Prairie Breeze and Legacy Gardens in Pender, NE.  Bob worked for Robertson’s Phillip 66, M.G. Waldbaum Company, Cooney’s Fertilizer and CK’s Cowabunger Corner as “pizza Bob”.  He volunteered over 25 years with Walthill Fire and Rescue.  Over the years Bob enjoyed painting, gardening, playing cards and tinkering in his shed but his favorite past time was being doted on by his 5 girls and son. Bob is survived by all six children; son, Bobby of South Sioux City, Nebraska; daughters, Renee (Dan) Barnes of Salix, Iowa, Reva (Scott) Novak of Rosalie, Nebraska, Regina (Eddie) Stansberry of Walthill, Nebraska, Rita (Kyle) Gomez of Rosalie, Nebraska, Ruth Ann (Curt) Bonneau of Rosalie, Nebraska.  He is also survived by 17grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Ann (Ed) Hinds of Walnut Greek, California; sister-in-law Bonnie (Jim) Countryman of Moville, Iowa; brother-in-law Richard Mauer.    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five sisters and other beloved family members.
