Joan Clara (Bettenhausen) Beutler, 84, of Pender, NE passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE; Pastor Nathan Henschen will be officiating. The visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. The burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.
Joan was born February 14, 1933 to Rudolph and Mae (Nelson) Bettenhausen in Pender, NE. She graduated from Wisner High School in 1950 and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Joan worked as a teacher for nearly 40 years and helped manage the Pender Sale Barn Café. On October 5, 1996, Joan married Clarence Beutler in Bancroft, NE.
Joan was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, PEO, and The Red Hatters. She was always very generous to the local and state nonprofit organizations. For many years, Joan was a Mary Kay Consultant where she was awarded two cars. She enjoyed family dinners and visiting over a cup of coffee. Spring flowers, reading the Bible, and traveling to California to visit her granddaughter, Tierney brought her great joy.
She was survived by her husband, Clarence Beutler, Jr. of Pender, sons, Douglas O’Mara of Oldham, SD, Dr. Bradley (Inna) O’Mara of Spirit Lake, IA; stepsons, Michael Beutler of Pender, NE, Christopher (Samantha) Beutler of Bancroft, NE; stepdaughters, Patricia (Stan) Wegner of Bancroft, NE, Barbara (Kenneth) Baker of Homer, NE; sisters, Sharon (Ron) Busch of Creighton, NE, Joyce (Richard) Shipwright of Omaha, NE. Barbara Delmont of Beemer, NE; and grandchildren, Patrick, Ryan, Kelli, Andrea, Zachery, Heather, Joshua, Stanislav, Maximilian, Tierney, Baxter, Barrett, Baylor, many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Tom Delmont.
