Curtis Wayne Blackbird

Curtis Wayne Blackbird, 59, of Macy, Nebraska passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 in rural Walthill when responding to a Police call in Walthill, Nebraska.  Native American services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Omaha Nation School Gymnasium in Macy, NE; with Mr. Clifford Wolfe, Jr. in charge of the Native American services.  Visitation will be held starting today and continuing until Thursday morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Macy, NE.  Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Omaha Tribal Cemetery in Macy, NE.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.  Curtis Wayne Blackbird was born on September 26, 1957 to Martha Hastings and Joseph Blackbird in Lincoln, NE.  He was currently working for the Omaha Nation Police Department in Macy, NE.  Curtis is survived by his wife, Ardetta Morris Blackbird; sisters, Betty Blackbird and Beverly Blackbird; grandsons, Nathan Mitchell and Antonio Merrick; and many nieces and nephews.  Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Martha Hastings Blackbird and Joseph Blackbird, Sr.; sisters, Annabelle Hayes and Carol Woodruff; brothers, Joseph Blackbird, Jr., Orville Blackbird and Darrell Blackbird.
