Imogene Virginia (Piere) Fredericksen, 85, of Castle Rock, Colorado, formerly of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Pender, with the Rev. Dan Springer officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.
Imogene, the daughter of Clarence and Cora Valentine (French) Piere, was born on April 18, 1924 in Wisner, Nebraska, and grew up on a farm 3 miles south of Macy, Nebraska. She attended Elm Grove Elementary country school from age 4 ½ through the 7th grade. She skipped the 8th grade and began High School in Macy, NE in the fall of 1936. She graduated from Pender High School in 1940 at the age of 16.
On July 17, 1942, Imogene married Paul John Fredericksen. They lived and farmed three miles east of Pender for most of the next 54 years, and moved into Pender in 1996.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Imogene worked for four decades as a bookkeeper at the Pender Creamery, Pender Implement and Omaha Line in Walthill.
Imogene is survived by her children: Peggy E. (Fredericksen) Hoogendoorn, Tom N. Fredericksen, Linda J. (Fredericksen) Kathol, John R. Fredericksen and Kenneth S. Fredericksen. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (and three more very very soon), a brother, Kenneth Piere of Decatur, Nebraska, and a sister Eunice (Piere) Creamer of Wayne, NE, plus dozens of friends and relatives.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul John, and a son-in-law John Hoogendoorn.
